Since March 28, 1961 the Houston & District Chamber of Commerce has been the voice for the business community acting as the spokesperson for business before all levels of government.
The Houston & District Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary non-profit association of business and professional men and women who have joined together to improve the civic and business welfare of Houston.
The purpose of the Houston & District Chamber of Commerce is to enable the local businesses to achieve that which they could not do alone.
The Houston & District Chamber of Commerce is an organization of Business, Professional and Community individuals committed to:
a) Actively explaining, promoting and supporting the economic, social and civic interest of the people of the District of Houston;
b) Acting as a catalyst for the sound economic growth and development of Houston and surrounding areas;
c) Promoting good government at all levels while remaining politically non-partisan and non-secretarial;
d) Acting as an authoritative spokesperson and lobbying force for the membership of the Houston and District Chamber of Commerce;
e) Recognizing the increasing importance of tourism as an economic growth industry and actively promoting the tourism potential of Houston and surrounding areas;
f) Coordinating services not readily available to members of the community; and
g) Working with all levels of Government to further the economic, social and civic interests of the people of the District of Houston.
