🎄 Parade Overview
Celebrate the holiday season with lights, creativity, and community spirit. This year’s theme: “Celebrating the Aurora Borealis” invites everyone to light up Houston’s streets with the full spectrum of colour—greens, purples, blues, reds, and whites—just like the aurora that dances across our northern skies.
Decorate your vehicle with bright, colourful lighting that shines against the winter night and captures the wonder of a Northern BC Christmas.
The Holiday Lights Parade will travel through the community of Houston. The parade route is approximately 14 km long, giving everyone along the way a chance to enjoy the show.
🏆 Judging Criteria
Each entry will be scored out of 75 points total, plus up to 10 bonus points.

Business Category
- 1st Place – $100.00 Love Houston BC Gift Certificates
- 2nd Place – $75.00 Love Houston BC Gift Certificates
Family or Community Group Category
- 1st Place – $100.00 Love Houston BC Gift Certificates
- 2nd Place – $75.00 Love Houston BC Gift Certificates
Winners will be announced at Steelhead Park following the parade. When the parade returns to Steelhead Park, please line up in front of the Houston & District Chamber of Commerce office for the award announcements and photos.
đźš— Participant Guidelines
To ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment, please follow these rules:
- Vehicle Requirements
- Open to all motorized vehicles legally allowed on public roads.
- Each must have valid registration and insurance.
- Passenger Safety
- All passengers must remain inside the cab.
- No one may ride in truck beds, boxes, or trailers.
- No Throwing Items
- Do not throw candy, flyers, or other items.
- If you wish to hand out treats or promotional items, have walkers distribute them safely along the route.
- Lighting & Decorations
- The parade takes place at night—use bright and colourful lighting to make your entry shine.
- Decorate to reflect the “Celebrating the Aurora Borealis” theme in a creative and festive way.
- Parade Etiquette
- Maintain a safe distance between vehicles.
- Follow all instructions from parade marshals and organizers.
- Keep the parade moving at a steady pace to avoid gaps.
- Be courteous to other participants and spectators.
